The mass and diameter of a steel ball was found to determine the density. The mass is measured within percentage uncertainty1% and the diameter within percentage uncertainty of 3%. What is the percentage error in the calculation of density of the ball ?

I'm sorry but I wouldn't be able to give you an answer I'm entirely confident of. My first thought would be to just add them to get 4% since the errors contribute to the final result. The way I've been calculating errors on my course involved partial differentiation on propogation of errors formulae, I cannot see, given the context of the question only giving two numerical values, why the answer wouldn't be 4%. However, I may be forgetting something so please check elsewhere. Hope this helps
