OpenStudy (zamzam-hussain):

what is differentiate b/w ideal gas and real gas ?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

That is wrong mphetang, gas composition does not define if a gas is ideal or real. An Ideal gas is a gas whose molecules do not interact, therefore we assume they never have steric interactions or intermolecular interactions. We typically describe an ideal gas with the expression, PV = nRT A real gas we assume interacts and undergoes intermolecular interactions therefore modeling a real gas can get quite complex. In reality though no ideal gas exists but it can still act as a great practical model for some systems that have negligible interactions (relative to what you are trying to determine).

@mphetang

OpenStudy (zamzam-hussain):

thnks australopithecus :)

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Anytime
