hello anyone who could tell me what solubilty actually represents, for example the S for NaNO3 is 10.8 mol/l what does l mean, per liter solvent or per liter solution? Thank you!

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Per litre solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solubility is defined as : Solubility is the property of a solid, liquid, or gaseous chemical substance called solute to dissolve in a solid, liquid, or gaseous solvent to form a homogeneous solution of the solute in the solvent. So its per litre solution . I agrred with @Vincent-Lyon.Fr ^^

Agreed *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But my book says the solubility is expressed as dissolved amount of substance per liter solvent!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not per liter Solution

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

I'm not sure. Have a look at IUPAC web site.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats for good soluble substances, but for bad soluble substances my book says its per liter of solution as you say.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

"mol/L" are the units of molarity, so L of solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you so much for the clarification, my book sucks so it had it per liters of solution !
