When magnesium (Mg) reacts with the nitrate ion (NO3), which of these compounds could be a possible product of this reaction? A. Mg(NO)3 B. MgBr2 C. Fe(NO)3 D. Mg(O)3

OpenStudy (theeric):

Hi! You might find more help in the chemistry section! http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/Chemistry You can rule out some, because only nuclear reactions will mix up neutrons and protons, I think. So you shouldn't have any new atoms. Also, you should still have all the atoms you start with. Also, \(NO_3\) is a reactant. If you put in one, you have 1 \(N\) and 3 \(0\). If you put in two, you have 2 \(N\) and 6 \(0\). So you need to make sure the numbers match up like that. Based on those, what do you think?

@Koltinc Are you sure you have written the options properly?
