simplify i^11

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

i^1=i i^2=-1 i^3=-i i^4=1

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

\[\Large i^{11} = i^4 *i^4 * i^3\]

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

i^5=i^(4+1)=i^4i^1=i i^6=i^(4+2)=i^4i^2=-1 i^7=i^(4+3)=i^4i^3=-i i^8=i^(4+4)=i^4i^4=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i^11 = i * i^10 = i * (i^2)^5 = i * (-1)^5 = i * -1 = -i

because it's of multiples of that changes the pattern for any i^n, you would divide it by 4 and use the remainder to go to the right spot and that would be the answer. so for this one because it's i^11 you would do 11/4 and get 2 remainder 3 right? and 3 is what in the i, -1, -i, 1 place? -i a little trick won't hurt
