A golfer strikes a golf ball on level ground. The ball leaves the ground with an initial velocity of 42m/s (32 degrees above the horizontal). a. Determine the balls horizontal range b. determine the balls maximum height c. Will the ball clear a tree that is 12m high and located 30m from the launch point

You can get the full trajectory from y = 42 [sin (32)] t - (1/2)(9.8) t^2 the height and x = 42 [cos (32)] t for the horizontal distance from launch. Graphing this will give all answers, including whether clear tree. Or solve for y when x = 30. The maximum height occurs at time time when vertical velocity becomes zero, 42 sin (32) - (9.8) t = 0 From symmetry, the maximum range (y back to 0) will occur at twice this time.
