\[P(x) = 55,000\sqrt{x - 1945}\] Plus in years between 1945 and 2000 as x, then solve. Whatever year (or value of x) makes the equation equal 165,000 is the answer.
Plug in, not plus in btw
or, you could do this, P = 165000 \(165000 = 55 000 \sqrt {x-1945}\) and solve for x
