What are polar and non polar solvents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

polar solvents are the one in which there is electronegativity difference between the elements of the compound(solvent),due to which there is partial positive or negative charge on the elements and polarity is developed in the compound. non-polar solvents are the one with no significant electonegativity difference between their compounds,so their is no partial charge on any element of the compound(solvent) and hence no polarity is developed in the compound
