For the first: change in momentum is impulse, or force multiplied by time. Each object undergoes the same force (Newton's 3rd law, every action has an equal and opposite reaction) and the time is the same for each. The second: Think of what happens when a fly hits the windshield of a bus. Which has the bigger change in velocity? In terms of equations, you know the impulse (change in momentum) is the same for truck and small car. Impulse = m v (where v is the CHANGE in velocity here) If you divided both sides by m, then if m is tiny, the change in v is large. If m is large, the change in v is small.

The simplest explanation: the sum of momenta is constant. So if one momentum increases by x, the other will decrease by x. Same change.
