How do you find the number of moles of acetaminophen in a single tablet?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Do you know the chemical formula for acetaminophen?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

And the mass of the tablet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C8h9NO2 for the chemical formula but i dont know the mass

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Tylenol.ca says each regular strength tablet contains 325 mg of acetaminophen.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Can you find the number of moles now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no im not sure how to calculate it to find it

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Can you find the molecular mass?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 151g/mol

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Cool. So, if each tablet does weigh 325 mg, how many moles do we have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.15?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

I get 325 mg * (1 g/1000 mg) * (1 mol/151 g) = 0.00215 mol

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Don't forget to convert your units. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you i totally forgot :)

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

No worries.
