A 166 g arrow is shot straight up into the air with a speed of 18 m/s it reaches a maximum height of 15.5306 m find the initial kinetic energy
Hello and welcome to OpenStudy. So you have the initial speed, and you want the initial kinetic energy. I believe you just use the formula \[K=\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }mv ^{2}\]
Make sure you stick to m, kg, s (mks) units, SI
Check that the potential energy, m g h, at the peak matches the initial kinetic energy.
Of course, the arrow might not have been shot from h=0, the ground.
I was thinking, since it goes against gravity, it will definitely slow down, making the initial velocity/kinetic energy the highest. But yes, that's a way to check it. And yes, we will need the initial height. So I assume in this case it is not necessary to check for that :)
