Need some help understanding the steps of this question. :) THANKS!
\[\frac{ 4 }{ x+2 }+\frac{ 2 }{ x-4 }=\frac{ 30 }{ x^2-2x-8 }\]
lets start from the LEFT side. see it as two fractions. in order to add them, we need its denominator to be the same. we can do that by multiplying the left fraction by (x-4) (top and bottom) and then multiplying the right fraction by (x+2). am i making sense?
you need a common denominator. Multiply the 1st term by (x-4)/(x-4) Multiply the 2nd term by (x+2)/(x+2) Simplify and reduce
Hmm can you guys show me in a equation form? Like a drawing or something?
im drawing right now
Ok thanks
wow I'm lagging, @marigirl your answer showed up before mine, 3 minuted after I posted mine. If that makes sense.
might take a few minutes...
its Fine :)
There!
And one more question, how do you find the common denominator? LOL
