How are evaporation and sublimation similar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both result in cooling. Evaporation, liquids take in heat energy from the surroundings and turn to vapor. Sublimation, solids take up heat from the surroundings and turn to vapor directly, without converting into liquid phase first. In both cases the surrounding loose heat to the liquid/ solid, thus resulting in cooling the surrounding.

Both take place throughout a solid.? Both involve the formation of a gas? Both take place at the surface of a liquid? Both release energy to the surroundings?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Similarities: both absorb energy from the surrounding, both are surface phenomena and both result in the formation of a vapor ( gas).
