Determine the possible lengths for the third side of a triangle whose first two sides measure a and b.

You don't really know anything about the triangle, so there are a number of choices. Side c has to be less than a + b. So you could write c < a + b. As far as possible values of c, it could be anything smaller than a + b, so even a + b - .0001 is a possible value (it would look like a totally squashed triangle. I'm not sure if that will help me out because in the attachment it has inches for Trial 1 and 2. I'm not sure how to do this.
