287.2 grams of propanol (C3H8O) burns in a sealed container that contains 556.8 liters of oxygen at standard temperature and pressure. The reaction has a 91.20% yield. List (in grams) everything that is in the container following the reaction. My teacher said there will be 4 answers at the end, please help?!
Hello and welcome to OpenStudy. First, can you write out the balanced chemical equation for this reaction?
I am not sure how to get the equation out of the word problem
Well you know you burn propanol with the presence of oxygen. So you have on the reactant side: C3H8O + O2 And combustion of carbon compounds will give you on the product side: CO2 + H2O The second part is usually something you just remember. Now, can you write that into an equation and balance it?
I balanced the equation and I got C3H8O+3O2 --> 3CO2+4H2O
I don't think your O is balanced there
I have 7 oxygens on both sides? |dw:1389650267546:dw|
