y=−2x^2−24x−64

Identify the vertex, equation for the axis of symmetry, domain, range and x- and y-intercepts of the parabola. I don't wan you to do it, I'd just like some help, please :)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Hello, Steve-O, First of all, what do you alreasdy know about this topic? I'd prefer to build on that rather than to start from scratch.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Vertex = (h,k) I know what domain and range are. Basically, they didn't give us a formula for this, but if I had that I think I could maybe do it.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

y=−2x^2−24x−64 has the same form as y = ax^2 + bx + c. Could you please identify a, b and c?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

OpenStudy reports that you're "just looking around." Note: once you have a, b and c, the vertex x-coordinate is x=-b/2a. That is also the equation for the axis of symmetry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=2, b=24, and c=64 I think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure why it says I'm just looking around, I never even closed this tab or anything.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

a, b and c are all negative. Please go back and double-check on that. Comfortable with that? If so, write out a, b, and c again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I wasn't even paying attention So a=-2, b=-24, and c=-64?
