Please help I do not understand how to do the steps on this: One-Variable Compound Inequalities 4x + 7 < 11 or 1 – x ≤ -2
4x + 7 < 11 4x-7+7<11-7 4X+7<8 Is this correct so far
you started off write but in the 3rd line you forgot to remove the 7 from the first part of the equation & also your subtraction is off it should be 4x<4
Not sure why
so the third step should be 4x<4
Do I start working on the next set
yes
now you divide 4x by 4 & you'll get your first answer
So the answer will just be 'x'?
no remember a number divided by itself is 1
x<1. now go to the other side of the equation, 1 – x ≤ -2
1 – x ≤ -2 1-1-x≤-2-1 -x≤-2
no 3 ≤ x
is the steps correct that I just posted
since you can't have a negative x you have to add x on both side instead first so 1 – x ≤ -2 1 -x +x ≤-2 +x 1≤-2 +x 1≤-2 +x +2 1+2≤x 3≤x
So the -x has to be removed by dividing it into itself?
your final answer should be 3≤x<1
No, you have to ad x on both sides as your first step because x can not be negative
okay. Thank you for helping me.
