Help! I'm confused! I don't know if I did this right and I'm really unsure about my answer! Here's the question: You have 15.0 L of nitrogen gas at 100°C and 200 kPa. What volume of gas will you have at STP? And here's my answer: 21.7L...Is that right?

Well I know that temperature at STP is 273 K (0° Celsius) and the standard pressure at STP is 1 atm pressure. There are 101.32500 in 200 kPa and I had to get 100°C into K (K=273+C), making it 373 K. I got this equation and worked it out. V2 = 15.0L x (200kPa / 101.325 kPa) x (273.15K / 373.15K)

Hmm is that the formula PV=nRT? Find n, and then multiply it with volume of gas at STP. Is that what you did? It looks confusing to me because I don't write it that way.

V2 = V1 x (P1/P2) x (T2/T1)

Is the equation I used. Is the one you mentioned the equation I'm supposed to use on problems like this? I wasn't too sure on it to begin with...I kind of just started trying to work things out and this is what I got.

I'm really sorry but that doesn't look familiar to me. Would you like to wait for someone who knows it? I only know how to do this using the ideal gas law.

Ok, thanks for trying! Really quickly though, how would you do it? I just need some advice on how to work it out. My way isn't necessarily the right way...and I'm not even sure if I did it right.

Well as I said, use the formula PV=nRT. You have P, V, and T. You can look up R online but make sure your units are the same. Find n which is the number of mole.
