Which of the following statements is true for a cell placed in beaker containing an isotonic solution?
Welcome to OpenStudy.
What are your choices?
Water molecules flow from the cell into the beaker. Water molecules flow from the beaker into the cell. Water molecules flow in both directions at the same rate. There is no movement of water molecules.
An isotonic solution is neither hypertonic or hypotonic than the intracellular fluid of the particular cells your question. Therefore the osmotic pressure will be equal on both sides of the membrane. Leaving you with option 3.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotonic here's the proper way to define Istonic solution
thanks becca
What is the similarity between simple diffusion and facilitated diffusion? Both move molecules from lower concentration to higher concentration. Both move molecules from higher concentration to lower concentration. Both need energy. Both need transport protein.
Welcome. It's only one question per post.
need a lot of help with these
when you define a hypertonic solution you must know it deals with cells that are more concentrated and hypotonic when there's less concentrated. Both with Istonic solution, it's neither less or high concentration, it has a normal concentration level.
