I know literally know absolutely nothing about this in any way and its the last question on my homework. Demonstrate an understanding of ionic bonding by writing chemical formulas.

@petiteme

OpenStudy (abb0t):

ionic bonds is when you have two oppositely charged atoms bonded together. For instance, NaCl is an ionic bond. Na\(^+\) and Cl\(^-\). So, a metal and non-metal.

thank you very much is there any more info you can give me on it?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ionic_bonding

thank you i have one other question this was a bonus thing on the back, but im not sure what my teacher is asking probably because i dont understand it. if you willing to help? 9. Use VSEPR theory to predict the shape of molecules.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

vsepr theory basically assumes that each atom in a molecule will achieve a geometry that minimizes the repulsion between electrons in the valence shell of that atom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who devised this theory? (i could probably Google that.)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

For isntance, BF\(_2\) vs BF\(_3\) have different geometry. One is linear, the other is flat and triangular. Yes, you can google the person who came up with this theory.

thanks very much you help alot more than most people Probably how you got that shiny 99 lol -Fanned-
