I was wondering if I did this right? The nth term of a geometric sequence is given by a_n=27(0.1)^n-1... Write the first five terms and find the tenth partial sum. So for the first five terms, I was a bit confused... Would they be 27, 2.7, 0.27,0.027, and 0.0027? and for the 10th partial sum, would it be 29.99?

27, 2.7, 0.27, 0.027, 0.0027. Those are correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yay! What I did to find the 10th partial sum was add up all the terms, but I'm not sure if that was the right thing to do..

The partial sum for n(1) -> n(5) is 29.9997 so yes you are doing it correctly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, the partial sum from n(1) -> n(10) = 29.9999...7

Thank you so much for helping! :D Hope you're having a great night!
