Help! I need to find the limit of lim y -> 0, sin3y / 4y

OpenStudy (phi):

do you know that lim x->0 sin(x)/x = 1 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (phi):

if you multiply top and bottom of sin(3y)/4y by ¾ you get ¾ * sin(3y) / 3y

OpenStudy (phi):

if we rename 3y to x notice that as y-> 0, x ->0 your problem becomes lim x->0 ¾ * sin(x)/x which can be written as ¾ * lim x->0 sin(x)/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which equals 3/4

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, do you want to be my personal tutor lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can I ask another question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lim h->0 , h/sin3h
