What makes gas particles move fast?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need it a little more in depth.

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

they are all spread out, which makes them move freely

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

they move FASTER when there is heat added , look up kinetic energy

OpenStudy (abb0t):

KE = \(\sf \frac{1}{2}\)mv\(^2\), and basically what that means is that kinetic energy (particles in motion) is directly proportional to the mass of the object and to the square of its velocity

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

do you get it?
