1/2 base by vertical height as you dont have vertical height (only length of the legs) maybe try Area of an isosceles triangle formula A = ¼ ·b · √(4a^2 – b^2) a = length of leg b = length of base

k, so double pythag, and your equations above look fine to me hey left triangle first, and yeah, x=20, perfect h^2 = a^2 + b^2 25^2 = 15^2 + x^2 625 = 225 + x^2 625-225 = x^2 400 = x^2 x = 20 now right triangle, h^2 = a^2 + b^2 y^2 = x^2 + 21^2 y^2 = 20^2 + 21^2 y^2 = 400 + 441 y^2 = 881 y = sqrt 881

yep, sqrt is square root, so the tick symbol on ur calculator ie sqrt of 16 = 4 as 4x4 = 16 in this case sqrt 841 = 29, as 29 x 29 = 841

yep, but necessary simplyfing, as before we had: y^2 = 841 so only way to get rid of y^2 is to sqrt it sqrt y^2 = y what we do to left side of equals sign we must do to right side so Y^2 = 841 sqrt both sides y = 29
