Help please !.Am i correct with the balancing and the states? 1.)zinc metal and lead 2 nitrate solution produce metallic lead plus nitrate solution. i got ZN(S)+Pb(NO3)2(aq)-->Pb(s)+Zn(NO3)2(aq) it is already balanced. 2.)Aluminum bromide solution and chloride gas produce aluminium chloride plus liquid bromine AlBr3(s)+3Cl(g)---->AlCl3(s)+3Br(g) 3)Solutions of sodium phosphate and calcium chloride produce solid calcium phosphate and sodium chloride solution. 2Na3PO4(s)+3CaCl2(s)--->Ca(PO4)2(s)+6NaCl(s) 4.)Aluminium metal reacts with oxygen gas to produce solid aluminium oxide 2

OpenStudy (aaronq):

2. chlorine gas is a diatomic molecule, Cl2, Br2 is also a diatomic and a liquid They are also solutions i.e. (aq) AlBr3(aq)+3Cl2(g)---->AlCl3(aq)+3Br(l) it is also not balanced 3. is not balanced and the states should be (aq) for all since they're solutions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for 2 since chlorine gas is different from chloride can i do it like this 2 seperation the solutions to balance the left and right side? Cl=1 Cl=1 Br=3 Br=3 Al=1 Al=1

OpenStudy (aaronq):

sorry when i checked the equation i forgot to include a 2 at Br, the equation should read: AlBr3(aq)+ Cl2(g)---->AlCl3(aq)+ Br2(l)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats ok u sure 3 is wrong?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

when you balance it you would have a 3 there 2 AlBr3(aq)+3 Cl2(g)----> 2 AlCl3(aq)+ 3 Br2(l)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

oh you mean question 3? yeah the states are incorrect, they're in solution (aq), not solid (s)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah .onl the states are incorrect i balanced it properly?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

2Na3(PO4) +3CaCl2 --->3Ca(PO4)2 +6NaCl you were missing the 3 in front of Ca(PO4)2

OpenStudy (aaronq):

wait it should be: Ca3(PO4)2 so no you didn't need that 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k thanks sir

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no problem !
