why does the rate of reaction graph have to be a straight line to tell the order?

I'm not sure, but I would say that this way, you can see if the rate is positive or negative hence or something. You will want to look it up or wait for someone who knows it.

Its because with reactions you can't have a curved line because when it comes to reactions they're quick and precise so it will usually pit a straight line down on a graph.
