well if you divide both sides of the equation by w^2 you get
1/w * d^1 = d^2
now divide both sides by d
1/w = d
hope it helps and makes sense.

Solve for d:d^2 w = d^2 w^2
Subtract d^2 w^2 from both sides d^2 (w-w^2) = 0
Divide both sides by w-w^2 d^2 = 0
Take the square root of both sides
Answer: d = 0
