can someone explain how the reducing agents are chosen by ellingham diagram in metallurgy?

A given metal can reduce the oxides of all other metals whose lines lie above theirs on the diagram.
for example2Mg + O2 ==> 2MgO line lies below the Ti + O2 ==> TiO2 line, and so magnesium can reduce titanium oxide to metallic titanium
so on wat does this reducing property depends on?

it depends upon the way it reduces i mean gives out electron easily
in my last exam a question was asked: What chemical principle is involved in chosing a reducing agrnt for getting metal from its oxide ore?
