Help! Find the inverse function of F(x) = 2arccosx. F-1(x) = ____ 1/2cos(x) 2cos(x) cos(1/2x) << would it be this? cos(2x)
y = 2arccosx y/2 = arccosx solve for x by taking cosine of each side.
Yes, it would be that.
@agent0smith would also this be correct?? Which of the following lines is an asymptote in the graph of y = arccscx? x = 0 x = 1 y = 0 y = 1<<<
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D+arccscx+reals might help to look at the graph for an asymptote.
TTOP: You might want to find the derivative of y = arccsc x first. Once you have that, look at the quantity in the denominator. Which x value would make the denom. = 0? That's where the graph of y = arccsc x has a vertical asymptote. Question: does y = arccsc have a horiz. asy.?
@mathmale yes they do
Hope we're not losing track of the original goal: to find the inverse function of F(x) = 2arccos x. Make certain that whatever we say and do here focuses on that goal.
^we did that already, this is a separate question
omg i just calculated it bymyself and i got x = 1 am i wrong? /.\
btw this is for the second question (:
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D+arccscx+reals+from+x%3D-1000+to+x%3D1000 see the asymptote yet?
ummm.. x=0??
Are you looking at a horizontal, or vertical asymptote? x=0 would be vertical.
i would be looking at the vertical!
Look horizontally.
then it would be y=0?
it is y=0??
That's what the medal was for :P
