help me!!
with whettt?
The graph of a system of parallel lines will intersect at exactly 1 point. Always Sometimes Never
never, parallel lines never intersect
@petiteme
im confused would it be sometimes or never?
never. parallel lines NEVER intersect. that's one of their properties
Never :D
Parallel lines never meets.
okay thnx can u guys help with anthoer one?
What is the value of the y variable in the solution to the following system of equations? 3x - 6y = 12 -2x + 3y = 6 -14 24 14 -24
Sure. :D
yea that's correct
okay @petiteme me can u help me the problems above ;D
Do you at least know how to do this?
no im confused like would i use elmintation method?
@petiteme
Yes. Try it. Lemme check your work.
1x + -3y = 18?
did i do it right? @petiteme
I'll brb. I asked @wolfe8 to help ya.
okay @wolfe8 Did i do it right?
Which method do you choose to do?
elimintation
Well if you use elimination then you wouldn't have one of the unknowns anymore so I guess you did it wrong. Since you want y, you should multiply either one of the equations so that the value for x are equal. Give it a try.
like thats what i dont get what would i multiply one of the equations by?
It's totally up to you, but you will want to make one of the unknowns equal in both equations so you can eliminate it. Hence, the name :) Also, if it seems easier for you, you can multiply both equations with a different number each to achieve this goal.
Awnser would be 24!
Hmm not what I got. Make sure you're getting for y as the question asks. And be careful with the signs. Give it one more try and I'll help you after that.
wait im confused cause i got -14 and 24 but those arent right
You have the sign wrong for one of them. Here Solve the following system: {3 x-6 y = 12 | (equation 1) 3 y-2 x = 6 | (equation 2) Add 2/3 × (equation 1) to equation 2: {3 x-6 y = 12 | (equation 1) 0 x-y = 14 | (equation 2) Divide equation 1 by 3: {x-2 y = 4 | (equation 1) 0 x-y = 14 | (equation 2) Multiply equation 2 by -1: {x-2 y = 4 | (equation 1) 0 x+y = -14 | (equation 2) Add 2 × (equation 2) to equation 1: {x+0 y = -24 | (equation 1) 0 x+y = -14 | (equation 2) Collect results: Answer: | | {x = -24 y = -14
oh i did it backwards got y for 24 and x as -14
Do you get how Wolfe solved it?
yep he went step by step that made me understand it :)
WAIT
huh?
Oh ok nvm I thought I had the equations wrong
Sorry haven't got the chance to help. I did something. hehe ^_^ Good job!
can u help me with two more please!!!!!!!!
@wolfe know how to explain so i can understand other pl just give out the awnser
Sure make a new post but I'll eat first.
@wolfe8 is a great helper ^_^ hehe
