The picture shows 3 steel rods. The rods are congruent, solid cylinders. The area of the top of the one rod is 7.07 square centimeters. The area of the body of one rod is 39.58 square centimeters. Find the total surface area of the 3 rods. MEDAL REWARDED!!
A)53.72 B)46.65 C)139.95 D)161.65
I know it is either C or D

Any ideas?
Are you able to upload the picture?
Yes..wait for a while
alright
Here it is
Just 3 steel rods.
So it looks like the bottoms aren't included
If that's the case, then the surface area of one rod is 7.07+39.58 = 46.65
There are 3 of these congruent cylinders. So 3*46.65 = 139.95 is the total area
Actually D is the correct answer, but thanks.
hmm I guess the bottoms were included
Yes
The problem with that logic is that 2*7.07+39.58 = 53.72 is the SA for one rod so 3*53.72 = 161.16 is the total SA for all 3 combined But that's not equal to D
Can you help me with this problem?
The area of a cylinder's base is 706.5 square millimeters. The cylinder's lateral area is 471 square millimeters. What is the total surface area of the cylinder, in square centimeters?
Total Surface Area = 2*(Area of Base) + (Lateral Surface Area)
A)18.84 B)188.4 C)1884 D)18840
Total Surface Area = 2*(Area of Base) + (Lateral Surface Area) Total Surface Area = 2*(706.5) + (471) Total Surface Area = 1884
Thanks
