\[\frac{ d y }{ d x } = \frac{ 1 }{ 2 } ( 1 + \sqrt{x} )^{\frac{ 1 }{ 2 } - 1 } \times ( 0 + \frac{ d \sqrt x }{dx })\]
then do the same for the sqrtx inside the bracket again
\[y' = \frac{ 1 }{ 2 } (1+x \frac{ 1 }{ 2 })^{\frac{ -1 }{ 2 }}(\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }x ^{\frac{ -1 }{ 2 }})\] tell me if you can't simplify.
