The pressure in an engine cylinder increases from 7.6 atm to 13 atm as the gas is compressed from 0.50 L to 0.10 L. What is the expected cylinder temperature if the gas was initially 15°C?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

I would use P1V1/T1=P2V2/T2. I think you will need to convert T to Kelvin before you plug it in.

Idk how to do this at all -.-

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Ok. The P1V1/T1 side of the equation is the initial conditions. So since the pressure was originally 7.5 atm, that will be P1.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Or do you mean that you don't know where I got the equation from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean i dont get chemistry at all lol

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Ah. Well, it sounds like you have made it fairly far into gen chem without really knowing what you are doing. :) If you have more specific questions, I can help you on here. But if you would like more in depth tutoring, I do online tutoring for a fee. PM me if you are interested.
