Pleeaseee help!!! see attachment
I just want to ask if I am right in thinking that the width is .5 ?
Or no I'm sorry I meant 1. because they are asking for three rectangles so the width would have to be 1 right?
the heights would be 4, 8 and 11?
i think the width might be just 1
and the height? am I right on the heights?
you are dividing an interval of length 3 by 3, so i get 1
oh i better look closely
we don't really need the picture the equation is \(y=3x-4\) so if \(x=2\) you get \[y=3\times 2-4=6-4=2\] first rectangle has height 2
if \(x=3\) you get \(y=3\times 3-4=5\) and if \(x=4\) the height is \(y=3\times 4-4=8\)
i have to say this is really a rather dumb problem, since you can find the actual area using geometry and the fact that you have a triangle and a rectangle to find the area of no need to estimate using this stupid method
oh ok I honestly was not taught to do that...
yeah I feel a little silly since you pretty much made it so simple
inscribed rectangles means the smaller ones take the left hand endpoints "circumscribed" ones you would use the right hand endpoints, 3, 4, and 5
ok. got it!! thanks!!!
