That's much easier to read, thanks! I don't agree with A, however. Shouldn't the number be the # of rows where the kids are 16 and over (45) divided by the row total (82) = 55%?

Well, if we have a table that looks like this tennis football total boys 10 30 40 girls 30 0 30 total 40 30 70 That's a table of counts, right? 10 boys prefer tennis, 30 prefer football, 40 boys in all. all 30 girls prefer tennis, none prefer football, 30 girls in all. etc. Now, if instead we had a table showing tennis football total boys 0.25 0.75 1.0 girls 1.0 0.0 1.0 totals 1.25 0.75 2.0 that's a relative table, because each entry is the fraction of the whole

I guess my numbers ought to be cut roughly in half so that the two total columns go to 1.0 tennis football total boys 0.14 0.43 0.57 girls 0.43 0 0.43 total 0.57 0.43 1.0

yeah, female students who prefer dancing. that's from the body, and it's not a count, so it should be a joint relative frequency, or you get a full refund on everything you've paid me :-)
