A 50-m steel tape is standard at 0°C. What is the actual length at 28°C? Linear coefficient of expansion is 11 × 10-6/°C.
it's \[50*(1+(28-0)*11*10^{6})\]
What's wrong with OpenStudy equation? I typed in ^-6 and it appeared ^6. Sighhhh
@NgoKimPhu You should type ^{-6}
@NgoKimPhu how did u come up with that eqn?
@LastDayWork pls help :)
@ankitshaw help ! :)
@zaisav Do you know the equation for thermal expansion ??
correction: linear coefficient of expansion is 11 x 10^-6 / degreeC
@LastDayWork i think its \[\Delta L = \alpha L \Delta T\]
@hassy help
@Emineyy help
@zaisav Will you please stop tagging people ? & can you find ΔL for this case ??
im not sure. i tried using the formula and i substituted the alpha, L, and delta T, but idk in the delta L
The final answer will be (L+ΔL) So find ΔL from the formula you posted & add it to L
ok i get it now. thank u so much :)
