A 508mL NaCl solution is diluted to a volume of 1.05L and a concentration of 5.00mol L−1 . What was the initial concentration? Express the molar concentration numerically.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Use M\(_1\)V\(_1\)=M\(_2\)V\(_2\) and then rearrange to solve for \(\sf \color{red}{M_1}\), which is your initial concentration.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Also, don't forget to convert mL \(\rightarrow\) L

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You want to keep the units consistent throughout your calculation(s).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did that but for some reason it's coming up wrong. :( I got 14.8 as my answer.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I think it's because you're not converting units. Notice were given both mL and L. and concentration is in mols per liter.

oh thank you so much!
