Please help! Calculate the volume (L) of water that must be added (not just the final volume of the solution) to 2.00 L of a 6.00 HCl solution to obtain a final concentration of 3.00 M HCl solution? I got 40 L H2O, but the answer is supposed to be 38.0 L

It looks like you may have calculated the total volume, not the volume added.
The original volume was 2L.
So I just subtract 2 from the total volume then?
Yup
Thanks guys! Much appreciated.
