In a spring system, there are two springs in series with a suspended mass of 6.0kg. The upper spring has a stiffness of 1100N/m and the lower spring 500N/m. Find the natural frequency of the vertical vibration.

OpenStudy (rajat97):

first of all you need to find the the equivalent spring constant for the resulting oscillations the springs are in a series combination so, we apply the formula 1/keq. = 1/k1 + 1/k2 where keq is the equvalent spring constant so by using this formula , we get, keq=343.75 the formula for frequency is\[\sqrt{k/m}\] so the frequency comes out to be 7.59 approx. i hope this helps you.

Thank you rajat97

OpenStudy (rajat97):

you're welcome and thanks for the medal:)
