Trigonometry 14 Online

Two sprockets are attached by a chain such that there is no slippage. If for every 4 complete turns of the larger sprocket the smaller sprocket makes 6 complete turns and the larger, of radius 6", is turning at 16rpms, what is the angular velocity of the smaller sprocket?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they both have a same tangent velocity speed = (angular speed) * radius

OpenStudy (anonymous):

big/small = 4/6 16/small = 4/6 solve for small

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 24 for the small one for its speed in rpms. Where would I go from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the answer. You're done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really? Okay
