Help?? How do you do this ?
What do you need help with?
Do you know how to simplify expressions?
Yes
there is no such mathematical operation as "simplify" it is the lazy math teacher's way of saying "give me the answer i want"
you can add, subtract, multiply, divide, combine like terms, reduce to lowest terms, write in simplest radical form (if you know the rules) but you cannot "simplify"
however, if you write the question i bet we can do it
oh.. How would I "simplify" this problem . (5h+4)(3h+6)
that is called "multiply" there is nothing "simpler" about what you get when you multiply than there is in factored form like you have it you have to do 4 multiplications \[(5h+4)(3h+6)=5h\times 3h+5h\times 6+4\times 3h+4\times 6\]
then you have \[15h^2+30h+12h+24\] and when you combine the like terms you finish with \[15h^2+42h+24\]
some times this is called "foil" for "first, outer, inner, last" (i bet your math teacher says that) but it is the distributive property
where did you get the 15h^2+30h+12h+24 an dyes he does
did you see how i arrived at the four multiplications for this step \[(5h+4)(3h+6)=5h\times 3h+5h\times 6+4\times 3h+4\times 6\]?
that was the "first, outer, inner, last"
oh wait i see it. 5hx3h=15h^2,
right
with only a tiny bit of practice you do it in your head you say \(5h\times 3h\) is \(15h^2\) and don't even write the \(5h\times 3h\) part that is just my explanation of why it is right
same with \(5h\times 6\) you go right to \(30h\) since you compute \(5\times 6=30\) without writing it
so would (-4m+6)(3m+2)=-12m^2+10m+12??
oh no you are right, sorry
if you want, ask you math teacher (gently) why \(-12m^2+10m+12\) is any "simpler" than \( (-4m+6)(3m+2)\) curious to see what he says
Alright, I will ask him :) How would I do this . (4x-6y^3)^2
or this one Factor 5a^3+15a^2-6a-18
