Help me with this question! An old barometer hanging on the wall of a mountain hut has a reading of 25.5 inches of mercury. If 1 inch of mercury equals 0.0334 atm (atmospheres) and 1 atm = 101.3 kPa and kPa = 7.50 torr. What is the pressure reading of the barometer in torr?

I'd prefer step by step answers, thank you!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

so convert, 25.5 in to atm (with the conversion factor given), then to torr knowing that 1 atm = 760 torr.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused. so will it be 25.5 in Hg x 0.0334/1 x 101.3 kPa/1 x 1/760 torr?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you don't need kPa, and you'll be multiplying by 760 torr

thank you!

no problem !
