2-3i/1+5i simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to rationalize the denominator. You do this by multiplying the whole thing by its conjugate (change the sign in the middle). \[\frac{2-3i}{1+5i} * \frac{1-5i}{1-5i}\] [(2-3i)(1-5i)] / [(1+5i)(1-5i)] You can FOIL the binomials together and simplify as much as possible now. The denominator should be rational.
