A woman exerts a horizontal force of 3 pounds on a box as she pushes it up a ramp that is 1 feet long and inclined at an angle of 30 degrees above the horizontal. Find the work done on the box. im gettin 2.59 =[ what am i doing wrong??

OpenStudy (mica):

im using |a||b|costheta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there any friction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and is the 3 pounds the net force, or is that in addition to the down-slope component of the weight force of the box?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

work done is physics o_o its force times distance moved then you times costheta so it goes FxDxcosθ

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also, convert pounds to newtons and while you're at it, feet to metres if needed.

OpenStudy (mica):

im not sure how its suppose to really look like i did do (3)(1)cos30 but i still got the wrong answer and the final answer is suppose to be in ft-lb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the correct answer?

OpenStudy (mica):

theres no correct answer given

OpenStudy (mica):

|dw:1393051652069:dw| this is how i imagine it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then how do you know that your answer is wrong? ._.

OpenStudy (mica):
