My understanding is that neither N2 or H2 are paramagnetic. You must have a lone electron in some orbital for a substance to be paramagnetic, because the lone electron does not have a "partner" of opposite spin which cancels the generated magnetic field and that lone pair tends to align with any external magnetic field, making it paramagnetic. ^ summary, lol
