1. What is the central atom?
2. How many atoms are bonded to the central atom?
3. How many lone pairs of electrons are on the central atom?
4. How many single bonds are there in this molecule?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
The central atom has multiple atoms bonded to it. H can only make one bond (because it has one electron and two makes a full valence shell for it), so the central atom must be N.
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Does that make sense so far?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yeah it does

Could you help with the rest?

I can, but I would like for you to let me know what you think for 2.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3?
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
I concur. :)
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Cool! How about 3?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yay! is the answer 2?

It has 2 lone electrons, making 1 lone pair. Make sense?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh yeah I see that now
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Awesome! How about 4?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think it's 3 but I'm not sure
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
I agree. All 3 bonds with H are single bonds.

How about 5, then?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
None?
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
Yup! :)

Thank you so much!
OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):
No worries
