If the cos of angle x is 17/8 , and the triangle was dilated to be two times as big as the original, what would be the value of the cos of x for the dilated triangle? Hint: Use the slash symbol ( / ) to represent the fraction bar and enter the fraction with no spaces.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

if the triangle is dilated, expanded, by 2 units, that means each side is being expanded by that much, thus \(\bf cos(x)=\cfrac{17}{8}\qquad \textit{dilated or expanded by 2}\implies cos(x)=\cfrac{2\cdot 17}{2\cdot 8}\)
