Describe how you could experimentally differentiate between the following pairs of solutions using a common aqueous solution: a.) Pb(NO3)2 or KNO3 b.) HCl or H2SO4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

using a common aqueous solution?? are you allowed to use only one solution to add to these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, but I believe you can use a different solution for a and b.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

potassium chromate for a.. PBNO3 gives yellow precipitate barium chloride for b.. H2SO4 gives white precipitate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you know which to use, though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, this is for a post-lab, and we're supposed to determine this by writing out equations; I have no access to chemicals to tell the different ppt colours.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry... I'll use Potassium Chromate and Barium Chloride to write our equations and see if there's a difference between products?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much, though! :) I really do appreciate the help. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.. np..
