tan x sin x - cos x = sin x. find the value of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide the whole equation over cos x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u would get tan^2(x) - tan(x) -1 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

at this and iam stuck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look subtituite tanx=sinx/cosx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didnt get much of that died end with me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

You can also do it this way \[ \sin (x) \tan (x)-\cos (x)=\sin (x)\\ \frac{\sin ^2(x)}{\cos (x)}-\cos (x)=\sin (x)\\ \sin ^2(x)-\cos ^2(x)=\sin (x) \cos (x)\\ -\cos (2 x)=\frac{1}{2} \sin (2 x)\\ \frac{\sin (2 x)}{\cos (2 x)}=-2\\ \tan (2 x)=-2 \]

yea @eliassaab that is right
