AB reacts with C2 to yield AC and B. 2AB+C2 -->2AC+2B The molar mass of AB is 75.0 g/mol, the molar mass of AC is 60.0 g/mol, and the molar mass of B is 50.0 g/mol. What is the theoretical yield (in grams) of AC from the reaction of 29.0 g of AB?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Since the ratio is 2:2 or 1:1, you can tell that the amount of AC you get is the same as the amount of AB you start with. So find the number of moles of AB, then find the mass of AC.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I set that up?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

You find the number of moles of AB first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.387?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

And like I said, because the ratio is 1:1, that is also the number of moles of AC. So find the mass of AC from that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its 60 for AC

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

60 is the molar mass. Mass is number of moles times molar mass.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

23.22 would be the answer then?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Yup. Good job.

Thank you!! appreciate your help!

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

No problem. Are you new?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes:)
